35 hours. That's what AI-assisted development handed back to me in a single week.
I built a portable Claude Code resource library from scratch — skills for LinkedIn, Webex, Splunk dashboards, blog publishing, repo auditing. OAuth flows. CI/CD pipelines. Cross-device setup scripts. The kind of project that would normally sit on a backlog for a month because "I'll get to it on the weekend."
Here's the thing: I'm not a developer. Never have been. My background is infrastructure and architecture — I read code better than I write it. But this week, that didn't matter. Every evening, kids in bed, laptop open, shipping code faster than I ever have.
The Splunk dashboard skill alone — connecting to the API, wrangling TLS cert issues, generating AI background images via HuggingFace, deploying live — I'd estimate 8–12 hours of research and trial and error for someone who does this daily. It was a few sessions for me.
I'm not pretending I didn't work hard. But there's a difference between hard work that drags and hard work that moves. And those recovered hours? They went back to the weekend. Football with the kids. Not debugging OAuth.
If the barrier for you has been "I'm not a developer" — it's not the barrier it used to be. The motivation to build something real is enough to get started.
What are you building that you thought was out of reach?
