If you're building with AI and Splunk is anywhere in your stack, this one's worth your attention.
Splunk just announced the Agentic Ops Hackathon — $20k in prizes, three tracks (Observability, Security, Platform), and a focus on building AI agents that actually do something useful with operational data. Grand prize is $7k plus .conf26 passes. Runs May 18 – June 15.
I've been running Splunk in my homelab for a while now, and the shift toward agentic ops is real. Connecting Splunk's MCP server to Claude has completely changed how I investigate incidents — instead of building dashboards and hunting through queries manually, I can ask questions in plain language and get answers back in seconds. It's the kind of thing you have to try to believe.
The tracks they've set up map directly to where this stuff gets genuinely interesting: intelligent incident investigation, network and security ops, developer tooling. Not "AI-washing" — actual agentic workflows that change how engineers work.
