Yes, you've seen robots running marathons recently but what does it look like to let them run the factory floor. Automation is not new for the factory floor, however these automation were very predictable given the way their routines woud run.

So, is there scope for an AI agent in robotic automation of a factory floor? (I think yes)

Before we answer that question we need to not only bridge the data gap between IT and OT systems, align with purdue models and cyber risk frameworks PLUS bridge the gap between the experienced factory floor managers and new AI agent workers.
